Directions: In order to move to the next phase, whether that be in our personal or professional life, planning is important. During Chapter 9, the topic of a development needs analysis was introduced. As discussed in the video by Liza Stus (2023), there’s a difference between a training needs analysis and development needs analysis. For the Week 5: Discussion Forum, you are required to create a development needs analysis based upon a competency area that you would like to further develop. Specifically, your posting should include the following information: An overview of the competency that you would like to develop and why you believe this competency needs further development. Details about two to three planned activities that you will complete to obtain the needed competency. Specifically, reference what will be achieved during each activity. An overview of the support and/or resources that you will need to achieve your development needs. A summary of why development analyses are important in the field of HR. Initial Posting Directions: Your initial post must be substantive and demonstrate insight/knowledge that you have acquired from the course material. Your initial post should be a minimum of 350 words in length. Each posting must be in your own words. You can use a short quote ONLY if needed. Otherwise, 95% of the content offered in your initial post must be original. All initial posts must be submitted using proper APA 7th edition referencing and in-text citations. Deadline for Submitting the Initial Posting: Your initial posting should be completed by Thursday at 11:59 PM EST. Response to Other Student Postings: It is imperative to respond substantively to the postings of at least two peers, by Friday at 11:59 PM EST. Peer responses such as “I agree with her” or “I liked what he said about that” or similar comments are not considered substantive and will not be counted for course credit. Continuing the Discussion: Please remember to continue the discussion through Sunday at 11:59 PM EST. To continue the discussion, please consider highlighting differences between your postings and your colleagues’ postings. Additionally, consider providing additional insights, additional resources to explore, and/or alternative perspectives. Evaluation of Posts and Replies to Classmates: Your initial posts and peer responses will be evaluated on the basis of the kind of critical thinking and engagement displayed. The grading rubric evaluates the content based on seven areas: Content Knowledge & Structure, Critical Thinking, Clarity & Effective Communication, Integration of Knowledge & Articles, Presentation, Writing Mechanics, and Response to Other Students.
