Write an essay discussing the ways ritual, religion, and magic (and love) are portrayed in Erdrich’s “Love Medicine.” Why does Erdrich tell this story through Lipsha? How might it be different if told through another character? Include two in-text citations plus a separate Work Cited page.

Must contain two (2) direct quotes or paraphrases from the Norton textbook reading. Do not use any other source. Limit the paraphrases to one. Direct quotes need to be 1-2 lines. Do not fill your paper with quotes.
Must correctly cite the quotes within the text (in-text citations). See how to cite in-text by visiting Purdue Owl MLA In-Text Citation Basics.
Must cite the Norton textbook source in the Works Cited page. Do not use any other source.
See how to format your Works Cited page by visiting Purdue Owl MLA Works Cited Page. Pay special attention to how to cite a work within an anthology such as our Norton textbook. You must list the author’s name as the source, and not the editor’s name. Visit page 172 in A Writer’s Reference.
I am including an example of Erdrich’s source and how it would look on the Work Cited page. Remember to double-space everything. Center the title. Left align the first line and indent the second line. (You have permission to copy it; just make sure to format it because it loses it when copying). Write only in the third person perspective which keeps it formal. Do not use “I,” “me,” “my,” “you,” “we,” or “us” words. These make your essay informal.
You will be graded on your ability to format the essay correctly, organize the essay, use proper grammar and punctuation, and cite sources correctly.
