Assignment 1: Descriiption of project setting and preliminary ideas for issue on which you will focus
The format for this assignment is presentation style (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi, etc.). The following are to be included in your assignment.
1. Starting with Context: Descriiption of Setting, Population, and Receptivity of key decision-makers, and Population
2. Describe the setting within which you would like to complete your project. (Female Re-entry Population)
3. This may be your field placement, Monmouth University (in the social work school, student government or club, or somewhere else within the university), your community (local library, place of worship, or community organization), or your current place of employment. -Newark Community Street Team is the organization I want use, it is in CVI setting (community violence intervention)
4. Describe the community context of practice—the setting and the population. For the context, include information about Monmouth University itself. Use the Garthwait reading on eCampus to help you answer this prompt. (I have attached the file below for reference)
5. Have you identified an issue upon which you would like to make an impact? If you are not sure yet of the issue, what are your preliminary ideas? (Yes, female re-entry population)
6. Have a conversation with the key decision-maker that would need to approve your project. Tell this person about the class and this project. Are there any needs that you might be able to address through a one-semester timeline? Include in your discussion with this person ways to seek input from the clients or community population in identifying an issue and design and implementation of the project. Include in your assignment the outcome of this discussion. (this can be with the Executive Director – Aqeela Sherrills.)
Follow-up with an introduction to the scholarly literature on your population
Find three recent academic articles on your population. Seek out the most specific matches.
For instance, if you are working with incarcerated women who have experienced intimate partner violence, find articles that can help you further understand that experience and the most recent research you can. If you are working with LGBTQ youth of color, seek out recent research on that population. If you are targeting undergraduate social work students in order to raise their awareness of mental health stigma, seek out literature that will help you understand who they are and what their knowledge is on mental health and illness and stigma.
For each of the 3 articles, provide an APA formatted citation, a brief descriiption of the main findings of the article and how you will use it in your paper.
(please let me know if 8-slides will be enough this is getting costly-I also want you to pull actual pictures to add to the slides of NCST and incorporate the female reentry community(all demographics for the women)
