Instructions:
Respond thoughtfully and critically to each prompt in Part 1 and Part 2. You must incorporate references
to the assigned course readings/material; please use APA 7th edition style citations/references. Your
reference list should be a separate page at the end and will not count toward page length.
Your response should be approximately 2 pages total, double-spaced, size 12 Calibri or Times New
Roman font, with 1-inch margins on all sides. Avoid using contractions in formal writing and do not rewrite the question. Start immediately with your numbered response to each question.
For this reflection, watch these two Ted Talks: 1) Social Experiments to Fight
Poverty [16min 32s] https://www.ted.com/talks/esther_duflo_social_experiments_to_fight_poverty?subtitle=en
2) Our Century’s Greatest Injustice [17min 43s].https://www.ted.com/talks/sheryl_wudunn_our_century_s_greatest_injustice?subtitle=en
Part 1:
1. Reflect in 1-2 paragraphs on the class materials for this week (including the Ted Talks,
readings, activities, and lecture) compared to previous weeks. What similarities,
differences, or other insights do you have regarding the global issues covered in Week
13 versus the more US-centric coverage of issues in previous weeks? How do you feel
about it?
Part 2: Answer both of the following questions in 2-3 paragraphs for each video (4-6
paragraphs total):
2. How is what the speaker shared consistent with what you have learned from your
readings and/or class discussion? Name, describe, and cite at least two points from
lecture and/or one of this week’s readings.
3. What is a new or different concept that was described in each Ted Talk but not the
readings or lecture? Discuss what you learned about at least one new concept/insight
from each video.
